Edward "Lalo" Garcia, Sr. came to Palacios, TX in 1935. After picking cotton, shining shoes, and earning $2.00 a day selling newspapers, he began shrimping at the age of 13.

He founded a successful shrimping company which he and his sons have developed and grown to include: 37 Gulf freezers trawlers, 4 shrimp houses and one of Texas's largest family-owned shrimp companies.

In 2002, sister Regina Garcia Pena expanded the families' operation by founding Philly Seafood.
